Diamond bank has confirmed its merger with Access Bank Plc, stating that the development is in the best interest of all stakeholders including, employees, customers, depositors and shareholders. In a statement signed by Chioma Afe, Head, Corporate Communications of Diamond Bank, it was confirmed that the proposed merger would involve Access Bank acquiring the entire issued share capital of Diamond Bank in exchange for a combination of cash and shares in Access Bank via a Scheme of Merger.

Nigerian pop star, David Adeleke, popularly called Davido, has revealed what he will do for the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike ahead of the 2019 election Davido said he would work for Wike’s reelection as Rivers Governor. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Davido made the pledge in Port Harcourt when he visited the Rivers Governor. He said he would also institute a talent hunt show for Rivers-based artistes. He said the programme would be in line with his discussions with the State Government to support new generation artistes in the state. LAGOS — Access Bank Plc has finally acquired Diamond Bank Plc. According to insiders, the official announcement of the transaction will be made in the course of the week by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, according to TheCable.

The Federal Government has said that talks with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have so far been fruitful, expressing optimism that the ongoing strike by the university teachers, will soon be called off. According to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, this is predicated on the FG’s consideration of some of ASUU’s demands, including the submission of the union’s list of outstanding payments, and the identification of some areas in the universities in need of revitalisation as contained in the signed 2009 agreement. Report has it that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reduction in the cost of JAMB UTME, NECO SSCE and the Basic Education Certificate Examination forms. The reduction will be implemented from January 2019 with the cost of JAMB UTME Form dropping from N5,000 to N3,500 while NECO will drop from N11,350 to N9,850.
